Have you been a Spanish teacher for five  years or less? Do you give the NSE, NSC, NPE, or NSA? AATSP Exams is here to support your growth as an educator. AATSP Exams, a program of the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP), is committed to providing teachers with opportunities to continue their professional development. To this end, AATSP Exams is offering up to five scholarships, each valued at $250, for a new teacher to complete an online course with the prestigious Universidad de Salamanca.

The courses are conducted fully in Spanish and award recipients may select from a variety of options. The courses range from how to incorporate music, games, and social media into your practice, to courses specifically about how to teach advanced grammar. Below are a few examples of the outstanding courses offered virtually through Cursos Internacionales at the Universidad de Salamanca: 

• Enseñanza de la gramática a alumnos de niveles iniciales (30 horas)
• Gramática de referencia para la enseñanza de ELE en niveles intermedios-avanzados (30 horas)
• Gramática de referencia para la enseñanza de ELE en niveles superiores (30 horas)
• Crecer aprendiendo español: de la infancia a la adolescencia (30 horas)
• El camino del profesor de ELE: retos, pautas y herramientas (30 horas)
• Herramientas didácticas digitales para el aula de ELE: las redes sociales (30 horas)
• La música en el aula de ELE (8 horas)
• Las redes sociales en el aula de ELE (10 horas)
• Los juegos en el aula de ELE (8 horas)

How can you take advantage of this opportunity? For the 2025/2026 Award, applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Have a current AATSP membership.
• Be registered to administer the NSE, NSC, NPE, or NSA in the 2025/2026 academic year.
• Be a full-time Spanish or Portuguese teacher for the 2025/2026 year.
• Be in the early stages of your career (typically with five or fewer years of experience teaching Spanish or Portuguese).

Recipients will be notified by March 20, 2026.
