Gathering Voice, Connecting Worlds
Beth Hanlon, Spanish Teacher, Oberlin High School
Central States Conference, 2027 Program Chair
After wrapping up a fantastic conference in Chicago in March 2026, Central States now has its sights set on Lansing, Michigan, for March 2027!
I am excited to serve as the program chair for a Central States Conference that will be accessible to many OWLA members due to its location. There will be other familiar Ohio faces in Michigan, including Lesley Chapman, Central States Board Chair; Lucas Hoffman, Central States Board Vice-Chair; and Na Li, Central States Board Director. I hope you will start planning to join us!
To me, the Central States Conference is a gathering of world language teachers from across the central states region who share, collaborate, and socialize, then take back what they have learned to their students, who, in turn, are connected to the worlds of their target languages. To reflect this, the 2027 conference theme is “Gathering Voices, Connecting Worlds.” We are looking forward to hosting Meredith White as our keynote speaker!
We hope that you will also consider sharing with the Central States community by submitting a session or workshop proposal. Proposals are now being accepted through June 30th on the Central States website: https://www.csctfl.org/conference/2027-session-proposals
We hope to see you March 11-13, 2027, at the Lansing Center! Keep an eye on our website, https://www.csctfl.org/home, for hotel and registration information this summer. Contact me with questions at conference2027@csctfl.org.
