I would like to sincerely thank the Ohio Foreign Language Association and Central States Conference on the Teaching of Foreign Languages for the travel abroad scholarship you’ve awarded me. It’s currently helping me live and study in the city of Pau in southwest France. It has only been three months since I arrived, but already this has been the most rewarding and exciting experience I’ve ever been fortunate enough to have in my life. My French skills are improving every day. I’m making new Francophone friends from all over the world. I’m actually living the language and the culture that I’ve been studying for years and it is fundamentally becoming a part of who I am and how I view myself and the world.
Thus, without financial help such as yours, it would have been impossible to reap the infinite benefits of this experience, including eating copious amounts of bread, cheese, and Nutella. Thank you so much for helping me in this endeavor and I cannot wait to one day repay your investment in me in my future classroom by imparting all that I’ve learned and experienced here to my students.
