Pero (OVFLA)What a year we have had with the news of the new OTES  (Ohio Teacher Evaluation System), the SLOs (Student Learning Objectives) and the SGMs (Student Growth Measures).  The OFLA Professional Development Committee has researched this information and has presented 11 workshops helping over 400 foreign language teachers make sense of our state legislature.  We look at this as a silver lining for our members.  Since we must align the SLOs with the state standards, our hope is that we will become one of the leaders in the nation with proficiency-based assessments.   Continue reading

The AATF officers would like to thank AATF’s own Jean-Pierre Berwald for coming to Central States for his “Vignoble français” presentation and wine tasting.  We learned about the different wines of France and got to sample some whites and reds; we even got to play some wine trivia!  It was a nice evening to reconnect with our fellow French teachers and Francophile friends around the state.   Thanks again to Jean-Pierre for his trip out to Ohio and sharing his resources. It’s not too early to begin to make plans to attend the fall conference.  The program is still in the planning stages, but will include a meet and greet and a lesson sharing session on Friday.   There will also be a film in the evening.  Saturday will have a guest speaker in the morning, and an AATG webcast and business meeting in the afternoon.
